Garlic from Deans Marsh today

How were those amazing heads of garlic today! They came from an organic gardener in Deans Marsh with some sprigs of peppermint for tea thrown in – thanks Judy! Attalia has kindly provided a couple of recipes for kale and also spinach (maybe in next week’s box) which I’ve copied on the bottom of the newsletter. I’ve just made some salty kale crisps (just roast Kale with seaweed salt) which aren’t too bad but I have been on an elimination diet for over 3 weeks! I plan to make some soup with leek, potato & (last week’s) celery… (more…)

The end of the year sees stone fruit and salads…

imagesCA28IPFUI’m sure you’re all, like me, fighting off the kids (or partners and I’m willing to guess visitors!) to at least get one of those delicious peaches and other stone fruits. (Sadly, it does mean the end of apples for a while!) Don’t forget if you do get the chance that peaches work really well with cheeses in a delicious summer salad. The last couple of weeks have seen tomatoes, lettuce, snow peas, mushrooms, eggplant and avocadoes, all from Victoria, filling our boxes and changing our diets too. I made a great green curry with pumpkin, tofu, snow peas and mushrooms. What a great way to end the year! I look forward to seeing more seasonal changes on my doorstep in 2013 to appreciate what our climate brings… (more…)
